you can't dig half a hole, if you dig something, than it is a hole.
Cathy has six pairs of black gloves and six pairs of brown gloves in her drawer. In complete darkness, how many gloves must she take from the drawer in order to be sure to get a pair that match?

Mabey I'm too tired to be doing this, but I don't get the answer for your last riddle WR. If you only pull out 3 of the 24 gloves in the draw, how can you be sure you don't end up with 3 right handed gloves, or 3 left handed gloves only. Or 3 brown, or 3 black only?

Aha. Good point, jaci. Going with the worst case scenario, you would have picked out all of the right-handed gloves to begin with, meaning 6 brown and 6 black. In this case, there would be 6 brown and 6 black left-handed gloves in the drawer still. If you pick out just one of them, then you would have a match.
You need to take out 13 gloves.

The only reason i got the answer was because i've heard the riddle before...only when i heard the riddle it was "How many socks...?" Not gloves, in which case three would work.
And yes...there is a glove for the left/right hand.

Depends on the type of glove, White Raven. My Uniform dress gloves do, as do my leather work gloves. The Inserts, however (the wool glove that goes inside the leather work glove) do not have 'sides' persay. Most cheap 'one size fits all' stretchy gloves are interchangeable left and right hand. Most of the more expensive or more 'fitted' gloves (usually not the knit kind) are not designed to be interchangable left hand to right hand.
Side note: I've heard this riddle most often with socks, where side does not matter so much.
